Chess Tournament Direction
Scott Elliott hosts and directs unrated chess tournaments for 4–8 players in the greater Austin area. Notation is kept, clocks are used, and touch-move is enforced — a proper competitive environment without the pressure of a rated event.
Not in Austin? Remote consultation is available for tournament organizers anywhere who want the same structured, rules-compliant format.
How it works
In-person hosting (greater Austin)
Scott serves as director for your group of 4–8 players. He manages pairings, enforces touch-move, keeps time, and ensures notation is recorded throughout. Ideal for clubs, schools, or private groups.
Remote consultation
Outside Austin? Scott provides remote guidance so your local organizer can run the same structured format — notation, clocks, touch-move — with confidence. Available by phone, video call, or email.
Tournament standards
Every event follows consistent rules: chess clocks in use, touch-move enforced, scoresheets kept for all games. Unrated format keeps the focus on learning and competition without rating anxiety.
